La primera persona que tuvo contacto con el Pelafustán arenero creyó que había encontrado enterrada en la playa una rara navaja suiza en forma de jaiba. Su sorpresa fue el darse cuenta que este hermoso objeto tenía vida y también temperamento. Con esta simpática anécdota el científico Carlos Retamales comenzó una vida dedicada al estudio del Pelafustán, descubriendo aspectos tan fascinantes como la multiplicidad de oficios que realiza, y su hábil uso de herramientas. El Pelafustán se diferencia de su primo, el cangrejo ermitaño, en que precisamente prefiere la vida comunitaria y colaborativa, incluso con otras especies.
The first person to come into contact with the Sandy small potato believed they had found a rare kind of swiss army knife buried in the sand. They were much surprised when they realized that this beautiful object was, not only, alive but had quite a temper. This anecdote sparked scientist Carlos Rematale’s journey into a life of the study of the Small potato, as he would come to uncover the creature’s fascinating features, such as, its many trades and its skilled tool-work. The Small Potato differs from its cousin, the Hermit Crab, precisely because it prefers to live in communities and to participate in collaborations, sometimes, even with other species.

Diseñador Teatral, Director de arte en teatro, cine y televisión. Miembro fundador de la Compañía de Teatro «La Patriótico Interesante», con la que ha realizado desde el 2002 una intensa creación e investigación en el campo del teatro de calle y espectáculos en espacios públicos, presentándose con sus espectáculos en todo el mundo. Como Director de Arte de cine y televisión ha participado en importantes películas y series de televisión. Como docente en la Universidad de Chile se desempeña en la enseñanza del Diseño Escénico para espacios no convencionales, Teatro callejero y performance, Diseño audiovisual y Dirección de arte. Además realiza cursos y talleres de Diseño no escénico en diferentes instituciones culturales a lo largo de todo el país.
Stage Designer, Art Director for the theatre, film and television. Founding member of the “La Patriotico Interesante” theatre company, with which he has labored intensely since 2002 in the pursuit of the creation and research of street theatre and performance in public spaces performing around the world. As an Art Director for film and television he has worked on several major movies and TV shows. At the Universidad de Chile, he teaches the Stage Design for Unconventional Spaces, Street Theatre and Performance, Audiovisual Design and Art Direction courses. He also teaches Design courses and workshops across the country.
