El Carpintero Austral es famoso por construir elaborados nidos en los árboles, los que decora con frutos silvestres, insectos vistosos, flores de la zona e inclusos tapitas de botella si son del color adecuado. Por bastante tiempo se creyó que estas construcciones eran parte de un ritual de cortejo, pero gracias a los estudios de dos expertas: la doctora Reynoso y su pareja y asistente la doctora Faúndez, se comprobó que el Carpintero Austral hace estos magníficos nidos con fines más estéticos que de apareamiento, haciendo que los bosques de la zona austral del Chile sean unos lugares más bellos del mundo.
The Southern Carpenter is famous for the elaborate nests it builds in trees. The nests are decorated with wild berries, native flowers, colourful insects and, even, bottle caps, if they happen to match the color scheme. For a great many years, the nests were believed to be part of a courting ritual but, thanks to research performed by two experts, Dr. Reynoso and her assistant and partner Dr. Faúndez, it was possible to confirm their purely aesthetic purpose. The nests contribute to making the forests in the south of Chile one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Actor, titiritero y realizador escenográfico cuenta con estudios en artes escénicas y diseño teatral en el campo de la educación no formal y autodidacta, es director de la compañía DEQUETERIES?TEATRO de Puerto Montt desde el año 2010 y fundador del proyecto artístico-educativo “ALEGORIAS EN MOVIMIENTO” creaciones en formato gigante para carnavales e intervenciones callejeras . Se ha desempeñado como Artista docente del programa ACCIONA del Ministerio de las Culturas y las Artes, Balmaceda Arte Joven Los Lagos y Talleres Artísticos MINEDUC, desde el año 2011 al 2018. Actualmente desarrolla trabajos de diseño y realización para artes escénicas con las compañías TEATRO CHILE-NO, ESCENA PUNTO SUR, COMPAÑÍA MERCADO NEGRO Y COMPAÑÍA DANZA DONDE SEA en la región de Los Lagos.
Actor, puppeteer and construction manager with informal performing arts and stage design training. He has been a director of the Dequeteries Teatro company in Puerto Montt since 2010. He founded the artistic and educational project “Alegorias en Movimiento”, creating giant scale carnival and street productions. From 2011 to 2018, he has taught in the Acciona program (Ministerio de las Culturas y las Artes), at Balmaceda Arte Joven Los Lagos and the MINEDUC arts workshops. He is, presently, developing performing arts design and construction projects for the Teatro Chile-No, Escena Punto Sur, Mercado Negro and Compañía Danza Donde Sea companies in the Los Lagos Region.
